Fox-fueled Tea Party Express fundraises off of O'Donnell's Fox appearance

In an email sent today to supporters, the Tea Party Express fundraises off of senate candidate Christine O'Donnell's (R-DE) appearance on Fox News' Hannity last night. The email claims that “O'Donnell hit a home run in her television appearance on Fox News' Hannity program. This is a must see video, which shows how articulate, candid and passionate Christine O'Donnell is on the issues facing America. It also serves to discredit those who have tried to smear her and undermine her campaign.”

According to the Associated Press, the Tea Party Express spent $240,000 to help Christine O'Donnell defeat Mike Castle in the GOP primary.

As Media Matters has noted, Fox News has been a relentless supporter and promoter of the Tea Party Express, which has been a major backer of Republican candidates this election cycle. Fox News host Sean Hannity, meanwhile, has provided a visible platform for Republican candidates such as O'Donnell, Sharron Angle, and John Kasich, among others.

Last week, Hannity hosted North Carolina congressional candidate Ilario Pantano (R) and told him that “you belong in Congress, I'm very impressed.” In an email, Pantano highlighted the Fox News exchange to raise campaign funds. The campaign also issued a press release yesterday calling the Hannity praise a “significant achievement.”

Pro-Republican causes such as the Tea Party Express regularly mention Fox News in soliciting support to their causes - online and off.
