On today's edition of his Fox News show, Sean Hannity hosted Media Research Center's Brent Bozell to complain about the supposed liberal bias exhibited by media figures who compared the protests in Madison, Wisconsin to those in Cairo. One example was Diane Sawyer's statement that “one lawmaker looked out at the crowds gathered in the Wisconsin capitol today and said, 'it's like Cairo moved to Madison.' ”
One big problem with this as proof of liberal bias: Sawyer was accurately quoting a remark by Republican Rep. Paul Ryan (WI). On MSNBC's Morning Joe, Ryan said: Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is “basically saying 'I want you public workers to pay half of what our private sector counterparts are' and he's getting riots -- it's like Cairo has moved to Madison these days.”
Another problem with Hannity's and Bozell's thesis: Glenn Beck also regularly compares the protestors in Cairo and Wisconsin.
