Fox Gives New Rove Super PAC Ad Free Publicity

Appearing as a co-host on The Five, Fox News' Brian Kilmeade lauded a controversial new ad created by Karl Rove's American Crossroads as “genius.”

Earlier in the week Fox Nation posted the ad under the headline: “Brilliant Rove Ad Pits Obama vs. Clinton.”

Washington Monthly's Steve Benen has taken Crossroads to task over the ad for its use of deceptively cropped comments from Clinton to falsely suggest that he and Obama differ on fiscal policy. PolitiFact, the Pulitzer Prize winning website, has criticized Crossroads in the past for "cherry picking" Clinton's comments to suggest he was at odds with Obama.

Fox News, which employs Karl Rove as an analyst, has a long history of questionable ethics surrounding the promotion of his Super PAC's activity.

In July, Fox Nation hyped an ad by Fox News employee Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS group that was “Sure to Make Obama Quake”:

And a separate ad by Rove's group in June:

In October 2010, fellow Fox contributor Dick Morris dubbed Rove “in effect” the “Republican National Committee” due to the massive amount of funds he raised for what Talking Points Memo characterized as Rove's “big money GOP group.”
