It's shaping up to be a tough day for Andrew Breitbart blogger Jim Hoft, who has been bravely blogging for weeks on the behalf of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Unlike most western observers, Hoft doesn't see the pro-democracy,pro-reform uprising in Cairo as a good thing. In fact, it's a bad thing. Why? Because spooky Islamists are going to seize control of the country. (See: Caliphate.)
And oh yeah, Mubarak is getting a bad rap!
You'll recall it was Hoft who foolishly protested when news outlets all around the world (including those owned by Rupert Murdoch) reported that pro-Mubarak thugs last week had attacked protesters, resulting in hundreds of injuries and widespread destruction. Despite the violence, Hoft stayed true to Mubarak, claiming the “state-run” media in America had smeared the leader's good name.
So Hoft's reaction today regarding news that the people's mostly-peaceful revolution in Egypt may succeed in driving the authoritarian Mubarak from office?
Behold [emphasis added]:
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will reportedly step aside tonight.
This was just what the Islamists wanted.
