Shepard Smith of Fox News slammed the Andrew Breitbart video that has forced former Agriculture Department Director Shirley Sherrod to resign and explained why his show, Studio B, never used it.
Unfortunately, he did not criticize other Fox News shows that have played the edited clip of the video over and over since Monday.
“We here at Studio B did not run the video and did not reference the story in any way for many reasons, among them: we didn't know who shot it, we didn't know when it was shot, we didn't know the context of the statement, and because of the history of the videos on the site where it was posted, in short we do not and did not trust the source,” he said.
His guest, Fox News contributor Juan Williams, said the Breitbart video is an example of how the Internet has become “like an open sewer. Nobody is there exercising any kind of editorial judgment.”
