After 11-year-old Marcelas Owens and his family were attacked in the right-wing media because he spoke at a health care reform event about his mother, who died after losing her health insurance, President Obama said he was signing the health care bill today for Owens (among others) and invited him on stage for the signing.
Obama stated: “Marcelas lost his mom to an illness. And she didn't have insurance and couldn't afford the care that she needed. So in her memory, he has told her story across America so that no other children have to go through what he has experienced.”
