Leading conspiracy theorist Alex Jones suggested he was behind Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump's recent call to audit the Federal Reserve. According to Jones, he passed the suggestion through high-profile Trump supporter Roger Stone.
During a February 22 livestream posted to Jones' Facebook page, Jones said he forgot to ask about auditing the Federal Reserve when he interviewed Trump in December. Jones explained that he raised issue during a recent interview with Stone, who said he would bring it up with Trump. Jones then bragged that Trump wrote on Twitter in support of an audit, saying, “That is a huge move by Donald Trump up against the globalists”:
Earlier on February 22, Trump wrote on Twitter, “It is so important to audit The Federal Reserve, and yet Ted Cruz missed the vote on the bill that would allow this to be done”:

Jones is America's most prominent conspiracy theorist, the founder of Infowars.com, and host of conspiracy theory radio program The Alex Jones Show. Trump and Jones have lavished praise on each other, and Trump has used Jones' radio show to court Jones' followers and make a get out the vote pitch.
Stone is a notorious “dirty trickster” who recently co-authored The Clintons' War on Women. The 2015 book is dedicated to -- and cites research from -- a Holocaust denier who blames a “Jewish plot” for the 9/11 attacks. Stone's history includes forming an anti-Hillary Clinton group named “C.U.N.T.” during the 2008 election.
Stone worked for Trump's presidential campaign in 2015 and is now organizing against Clinton's campaign again. He frequently makes media appearances to discuss Trump, and the friendship and professional relationship between the two men goes back years.
During his livestream, Jones claimed that Stone is currently “the shadow manager of Trump's campaign.”
Jones also said, “And 9/11 Truth, I mean Trump is really, really doing it. So very, very exciting on that front.”
Trump has suggested that “secret papers” could prove that “the Saudis” were responsible for the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, likely referencing unreleased pages from the 9/11 Commission Report that critics have suggested implicate members of the Saudi government in the attack.
Jones, however, is widely credited with founding the so-called 9/11 Truth movement, which posits that the attacks were an inside job of the United States government. When discussing unreleased pages of the 9/11 Commission Report, Jones has also put forward a hybrid conspiracy theory where the United States government did not take overt actions to carry out the attacks, but allowed elements of the Saudi government to attack the U.S.
In his live stream, Jones went on to claim he was about to “shoot a special HD video ... to congratulate Trump for what he's done.” He added, “So bravo to that, I mean he is really -- even [Infowars.com reporter] David Knight didn't like him ... he likes him now because of the 9/11 Truth stuff, and the audit the Fed. Look, the stuff he is doing is death blow to the globalists. There is no putting this genie back in the bottle, the amount of credibility he has given these issues, the amount of visibility.”
