JORGE RAMOS (HOST): Also joining us is one of the most recognized Republican women. I'm referring, of course, to Rosario Marín who was treasurer of the United States under the presidency of George W. Bush. She has said that the Republican Party abandoned her, and that's why she has decided to turn her back on Donald Trump and support the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Rosario, thank you for being here.

ROSARIO MARÍN (U.S. TREASURER UNDER GEORGE W. BUSH): A pleasure, Jorge, like always. 

RAMOS: Let's start with the issue of immigration, do you know Donald Trump's position on deportations? No one is clear on that.

MARÍN: It's because he doesn't even know what his position is. This man in the morning wakes up with one position, at lunch he has another one, and at dinner he has another one. 

RAMOS: He has said during the campaign that he is in favor of a deportation force and that he wanted to deport 11 million. Later on Fox News, he said that he wanted to treat some with a little more generosity, and later in an interview on CNN he said that they would have to leave the country and then later return. It's not clear to me.

MARÍN: It's not clear to anyone. He doesn't know what he wants or what he should do. The only thing he wants is that all of us talk about him. That's his strategy, and that's what he's continuing to do and what he will continue to do. But he knows nothing about government, he knows nothing. 

RAMOS: Why did you leave Donald Trump? You haven't left the Republican Party. You continue being a Republican.

MARÍN: I continue to be a Republican.

RAMOS: But openly you have decided not to support Donald Trump and to support Hillary Clinton. How did you arrive at this decision, Rosario?

MARÍN: Well, it was very difficult because as a militant Republican activist, I have supported my candidate, our standard-bearer for 32 years. But this man doesn't deserve, not only the Republican vote, but he doesn't deserve the vote of anybody. This man doesn't have the slightest idea of what it means to govern. He might be a businessman, he might have created many jobs for his benefit, but he knows nothing about governing. And the worst is that he was able to become our standard-bearer, and -- how do you say it --

RAMOS: Hijacked?

MARÍN: Hijacked the platform, hijacking the values. He is nothing like Ronald Reagan, he is nothing like George Herbert Walker Bush, or George Bush, or John McCain, or Mitt Romney, who have been our standard-bearers. He should not be our candidate, but he is our party's candidate. I can't vote for him.

RAMOS: Was it the immigration issue that made you say, “I can't anymore”? Was that the issue?

MARÍN: Yes. It's that there are so many things. What was the drop that spilled the glass? It's so much. The insults, the insults against women, the insults against immigrants, against Mexicans in particular, mocking a person with disabilities. Jorge, it's so many things. The not having the minimum conviction of what it is that he believes. He thinks one thing in the morning and another thing in the evening. It's so many things. We can't have a leader like that.
