TAMMY BRUCE (FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR): Sarah Sanders has the patience of a saint. We also saw that she remained calm during that White House Correspondent's Dinner, which was not much different, frankly. This has become reality television for many of those reporters. Not all of them, but people like [CNN White House correspondent] Jim Acosta and [The Montgomery County Sentinel's Brian Karem]. It's as though they're auditioning for their networks for programming. This has nothing to do with what the job is or what the event is supposed to be, which is a briefing of the news of the day and answering questions.
By the way, this is not something dictated by the Constitution. It is not a law. It is a courtesy of the White House to provide this briefing. I think they should stop.
STUART VARNEY (HOST): Yes.
BRUCE: And I think that they -- and this was actually a discussion when the president was first elected because we knew that this was simply going to be used to use this press secretary as a punching bag.
The fact of the matter is, it doesn't -- not only does it not help, we don't get new information, they don't ask questions that at least inform the American public in a larger way. And if they provided -- I'm not saying don't provide news or briefings to the media. Do it on paper, do it with individuals, or have different -- and they did for a period of time, remember, they brought in different reporters from different platforms to ask questions. Maybe they need to do that more often and do a rotation so that people don't think that this is their reality television program.
