Ever since Fox News became the self-described "voice of opposition" to the Obama administration, Fox & Friends has lead the way in relentlessly attacking the administration as a reckless waster of taxpayer money, often relying on false and deceptive claims to do so.

For example, the morning show repeatedly questioned whether the “stimulus [was] wasted;” they falsely claimed that the stimulus included $54 million on a Napa Valley “Wine Train,” even though that money went to prevent flooding in Napa, and deceptively claimed that $10 million in stimulus funds went to “an abandoned train station,” even though that station's platform serves more than 80,000 passengers a year. And their commitment to decrying government waste hasn't been contained to the stimulus. Last year co-host Gretchen Carlson strongly advocated for Obama to eliminate all earmarks, accentuating her point by falsely claiming that Obama had promised to do so.

Today, however, it became clear that Fox & Friends' commitment to ending government waste (whether real waste or imaginary) was no match for their commitment to use any excuse to attack the Obama administration. Following the tragic BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, an enterprising small business in Maine named Packgen decided to capitalize on the opportunity, and began rapidly producing oil capturing booms -- despite the fact that they have never manufactured booms before. They are also reportedly using a different design then the standard oil boom. Given the company's overall inexperience and the new design, BP sent an auditor to Packgen to check them out, and ordered a “trial run” of the booms to make they don't waste a huge sum of money on faulty booms. Sounds like sensible way to avoid waste, rather than having BP -- or the administration - recklessly waste time and money on booms the might not work.

Unfortunately, the words “sensible” and “Obama” just don't compute for Fox & Friends, and so they had to abandon their commitment to ending waste. Interviwing Packgen's president on today's show, the co-hosts demanded to know “what's taking BP so long,” while the on-screen text cried out "Maine Factory Owner Begs Feds: Red Tape Puts Hold on Company's Boom Making."
