VARNEY: Thugs, thank you.
HEGSETH: -- fill in the blank resistance from the beginning. Remember when they hadn't decided who it was going to be, the president hasn't announced it, but the signs were already made for any candidate it was, they were going to be resisted no matter what. This has never been about Kavanaugh, this has always been about two things; the balance of the court, this is a swing spot -- so it matters that much more to the left -- and it's also always been about President Trump. This is an extension of the resistance. Any Republican that doesn't vote for this eminently qualified conservative nominee might as well leave the Republican Party, which [Sen.] Jeff Flake is doing by the way, because he can't run for re-election.
VARNEY: There is real danger here. When you've got these youngsters right in a senator's face, gesticulating, and shouting, and screaming, that's -- there's a danger there that you'll actually erupt into physical violence inside the Senate building. I find this a real danger to democracy.
HEGSETH: It's an extension of what's happening on the streets. We've seen physical violence against Trump supporters in the streets, in various places, at different rallies. So now it's come to the Senate floor on a consequential vote.
