Fox' Hayes: Congressman's Call For Select Committee On Planned Parenthood Is “Music To [The Republican Base's] Ears”

From the September 28 edition of Fox News' Special Report with Bret Baier:

BRET BAIER: Speaker Boehner and the man who wants his job, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, was here on Special Report. We're back with the panel. This battle, Steve, is getting underway. It appears that McCarthy has the votes needed. I mean that there's not really a lot of intrigue up on the Hill according to the people we talked to.

STEVE HAYES: There's not, and the people I think who would potentially be in a position to beat him have said repeatedly that they have no interest in the job. I think it's telling to your point that most of the conservatives who have helped push John Boehner out are not saying anything negative right now about Kevin McCarthy ... I thought in his interview he tried to avoid some of your questions, did his best to avoid the question about false prophets and others and had, I think, generally strong language, wants to be a uniter, not a divider. He wants to change the culture, he wants to bring people together.

BAIER: But boy, for people in the base, they've heard it. They've heard all that.

HAYES: They've heard all that for years, and if he had stopped there that wouldn't be appealing. I do think he said two things that likely will be music to their ears: one on the Ex-Im bank, and the other on a select committee on Planned Parenthood.
