Ben Stein: Nixon “did basically nothing wrong” during Watergate

Stein: “I mean, it turned out that Watergate was essentially nothing, just built a house of cards of lies, of smears against Nixon”

From the October 27 edition of Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto:

BEN STEIN: Here's a guy, no public experience whatsoever, he's been in office less than eight -- roughly eight months, and he's doing much better than anybody really thought he would.

NEIL CAVUTO (HOST): Compared to the way the media treated Richard Nixon?

STEIN: I think they ended up treating him even worse.

CAVUTO: Really?

STEIN: I think they've treated Trump even worse, although at the end, when the media went after Nixon over what turned out to be essentially nothing, I mean, it turned out that Watergate was essentially nothing, just built a house of cards of lies, of smears against Nixon, who did basically nothing wrong, or very -- something wrong, but very little wrong.

CAVUTO: Covered up a lot.

STEIN: Covered up -- but that's nothing compared -- nothing compared with starting wars. He was the ultimate peace maker.

CAVUTO: Okay.

STEIN: Nixon was the ultimate peace maker, never got credit for it.
