On this afternoon's episode of Fox News' The Five, panelist Dana Perino turned in a high-speed flip-flop on early indicators of electoral strength, declaring that “if the election were held today, the Republicans would win back the Senate,” and three minutes later dismissing President Obama's lead in the most recent presidential poll by saying: “It's July of 2010 [sic]!”
After Democratic strategist Bob Beckel introduced the segment on the Republicans' comparatively anemic presidential fundraising, Perino offered this observation: “I would say that on the senatorial side, if the election were held today, the Republicans would win back the Senate. They are up 43 percent than they were before.”
Three minutes later, after Beckel cited Obama's advantage over all the leading Republican presidential contenders in the latest Quinnipiac poll, Perino interjected: “It's July of 2010!”
