JOHN ROBERTS (CO-ANCHOR): But congressman-elect, if you cut a deal with Democrats and change ratios on committees, the House Freedom Caucus is gonna go nuts, the next two years are going to be a nightmare, and then you're facing an angry electorate in 2024. That sounds like recipe for unmitigated disaster.
REP-ELECT DON BACON (R-NE): My point is if that's the only option -- this is the only option they are giving us if they don't --
ROBERTS: But that's an option for McCarthy to become speaker. If you put forward a different candidate like a Steve Scalise, you might get the 218 on your first vote.
BACON: I don't think so.
