HARRIS FAULKNER (ANCHOR): That's a big deal. Because if you'll remember, just about seven to ten days ago, this situation looked like it wasn't in the foreground very soon. And now we are at the point where the President says, "We are actively talking with China, actively talking with a lot of countries, they want to do business and a deal with the United States." He said, "We are going to have a fair deal with China."
Grady Trimble, Fox Business Network, is with us now at the White House. And your focus at the White House right now, your assignment if we will, is tariffs. So tell me, how fast does this happen? We weren't even at a point yet where we were starting to feel the price hikes that tariffs could bring. I mean, has all of that been circumvented? Is the left just blowing hot air for no reason?
GRADY TRIMBLE (FOX CORRESPONDENT): I guess we'll have to wait and see on that, but the President is saying that he thinks all of this could wrap up pretty quickly. I think it was last week, he said that deals could be done with China and other countries in a matter of weeks.
...
FAULKNER: Look, you know my main focus is pharmaceutical independence. I don't really care what number they get to. We can no longer depend on China for drugs for diabetes and other things that we don't even have the original materials to put together here. They put it together, they have the materials, and then they overprice everything and send it to us. I mean, we have to cut the cord on that. How does this affect something like that?
TRIMBLE: I think, Harris, what you could see from this White House is they could target specific industries that are critical to national security or as you noted, safety, such as the pharmaceutical industry. We already saw a big announcement from a Swiss pharmaceutical company this week, it's called Roche, they're investing $50 billion into U.S. manufacturing. And that's the effect that the White House is hoping comes from these tariffs, is that we move our supply chains away from China, into the United States, or at the very least countries that we are partners with and friendly with so that we're not reliant on, on China for lifesaving medical treatment.
FAULKNER: This seems like a victory for the United States and for this President.
