Fox News report on GOP hurricane fact sheet fails to mention its details on misinformation Fox News has spread

In a social media post, a Fox reporter pointed out misinformation about hurricane relief funds and migrants. He left that out of his on-air report.

Fox News’ Chad Pergram finally appeared on the network to discuss a GOP memo that debunked right-wing lies about FEMA's hurricane response, details of which he had shared the day prior on social media.

But in his appearance he failed to discuss the part of the document that debunks the lie that the federal government spent disaster relief funds on migrant aid — a lie that Fox has relentlessly pushed

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) the night before his appearance, Pergram, the networks' senior congressional correspondent, noted that the fact sheet from Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee “declares there is ‘no funding connection between’ the migrant shelter program and the Disaster Relief Fund. It adds that ‘the only connection is that both programs are administered by FEMA.’”

Fox News has been a major purveyor of the very misinformation about migrant aid that was debunked in the GOP fact sheet. But in Pergram’s first appearance on the network after obtaining it, the correspondent completely failed to report on that part of the memo.

Instead, he focused solely on the part of the memo discussing whether FEMA has enough funding to address immediate needs for hurricanes Helene and Milton.
