Fox's Premier Business Show Devotes Less Than 30 Seconds To New Job Numbers

Today the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the employment numbers for the month of March, and they were the best the country has seen in some time. There were 216,000 jobs created this month and unemployment dropped down just a hair to 8.8 percent. An economist writing on FoxNews.com says these numbers “largely resulted from stronger, potentially self-sustaining private sector jobs growth.”

With this in mind, you would think that Your World with Neil Cavuto, the show Fox News calls the “No. 1 rated signature business show on cable news” that “covers the business world2 from all angles” would cover the numbers. After all, Your World has had little trouble in the past using his show on Fox News as an outlet to bash the job numbers under Obama.

Yet tonight on Your World, guest host Stuart Varney ignored the job report for more than 56 minutes. Then, just before the show's last commercial break, he said: “The economy adding jobs. A positive report today, a game changer in this budget battle fight. Is it?”

When he came back from commercial, Varney said: “You are looking live at the Capitol building, Washington, D.C. Democrats say today's good job numbers prove that this is no time to cut spending, but is it just the opposite? That's what we're going to explore tonight on the Fox Business Network one hour from now.”

That's it. Varney spent less than 30 seconds discussing the new job numbers. Furthermore, Varney invited viewers to learn about the job figures under the Obama administration later on Fox Business Channel.

It's very interesting that they decided to cover the positive jobs numbers on Fox Business rather than Fox News' premier business show, as recently released numbers show that Fox Business' ratings are rock bottom.
