On the April 13 edition of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, L. Brent Bozell III, founder and president of the conservative Media Research Center, falsely claimed that “cartoons that are conservative ... never see the light of day in the Pulitzer Prize selection process.” In response to co-host Alan Colmes' assertion that "[i]f, indeed, we had a Democrat in office, that's who they'd be going after, and the Pulitzer would be probably won by somebody who was mocking a Democratic administration," Bozell replied: “It was eight years of [President] Bill Clinton, and I didn't see cartoonists from the right winning Pulitzer Prizes.”
In fact, the Pulitzer Prize website highlights work by winning cartoonists that criticize both Democrats and Republicans, and all nine editorial cartoonists who won a Pulitzer during the Clinton campaign and presidency published cartoons criticizing him or his party.
Here is a list of the cartoonists who won Pulitzer Prizes during the years that Clinton was either running for or holding the presidency, and examples of cartoons they have published criticizing Clinton or the Democratic Party:
- 1992, Signe Wilkinson, Philadelphia Daily News
- 1993, Stephen R. Benson, Arizona Republic

- 1995, Mike Luckovich, Atlanta Constitution
- 1996, Jim Morin, Miami Herald
