During his April 27 broadcast, News Radio 740 KVOR's Joseph Michelli called homosexuality “unnatural” and agreed with a caller who equated homosexuality to “bestiality,” "[p]edophilia," and “necrophilia.” Michelli said to the caller, “Don't you love when you're asked to defend, like, 'Explain why you must continue to have heterosexuality as the form of marriage in this country'... Like, why do I have to defend that?”
A caller introduced the topic of homosexuality by citing an article from the conservative news outlet WorldNetDaily.com, claiming that “members of the European Parliament recently ... have said that Poland should be brought to the World Court ... for hateful and repulsive refusing of the promotion of homosexuality in their schools.” Michelli responded, “All right, I have a problem with this one,” and later stated, “Who gives them the moral authority to hold other people accountable for homophobia?” He then added, “And, and the fact you call it 'homophobia,' as opposed to moral, principled behavior is a -- is, in and of its own right, a loaded term. All right, I'm with you on that one.”
Later, after another caller said that people “don't want the agenda to where that activity's [homosexuality] mainstreamed any more than they do bestiality, ” Michelli replied, “Did I not -- didn't I not try to articulate that?” When the same caller said, “Well, the thing is, why do we want to mainstream per -- mainstream perver -- perversion, no matter what kind of perversion it is? Pedophilia, necrophilia,” Michelli added, “Yeah, it would be kind of like, 'Defend why necrophilia should not be accepted.' ”
According to the British Broadcasting Company (BBC), the European Parliament recently passed a resolution that called for the European Union to investigate “the emerging climate of racist, xenophobic and homophobic intolerance in Poland.” In a news release, the Parliament cited concerns about a Polish government official's statements “regarding a new law providing for the dismissal, fining or imprisonment of school directors, teachers and pupils in cases of gay rights' activism” and noted “the Polish government's stated wish to promote similar laws at European level and the fact that the Polish Ombudsman for Children announced that she is preparing a list of jobs for which homosexuals are unfit.”
From the April 27 broadcast of News Radio 740 KVOR's The Joseph Michelli Show:
CALLER: This came out of another WorldNetDaily. The European Parliament -- the members of the European Parliament recently -- and the ones from France, Netherlands, and Italy -- have said that Poland should be brought to the World Court --
MICHELLI: Yes?
CALLER: -- for hateful and repulsive refusing of the promotion of homosexuality in their schools. They're --
MICHELLI: All right, I have a problem with this one. I, I --
CALLER: They're sending delegates to Poland to chastise them from, for homophobia. The vote was 325 to 124. They're going to be goin' on a fact-finding mission to get Poland to decriminalize their understanding of homosexuality. Now, we're talking about the World Court, who, who's --
MICHELLI: Right. And we're also talking about the country that not too long ago had the pope coming from that land. I mean, this is absolutely insane. And you're right to be concerned about this. Who gives them the moral authority to hold other people accountable for homophobia? And, and the fact you call it “homophobia,” as opposed to moral, principled behavior is a -- is, in and of its own right, a loaded term. All right, I'm with you on that one.

CALLER: What we have to remember, Joseph, is that gayness is not illegal, here or in Europe. So the only, the only proscription against it comes from farcical and arcane Christian doctrines. And what we need --
MICHELLI: Farcical. I love that. Farcical. What is the farce about it being unnatural?
CALLER: Well, the farce is because, since gover -- government is not of, of and by Christians, but of and by Americans, and, and of and by Poles, and of and by Europeans, that the farcical aspect of it is that we are actually trying to control what homosexuals can do or say as citizens of the United States by virtue of them being sconed out in the Bible.
MICHELLI: Oh, this is -- you are so off-base today, [caller]. I can't even -- I can hardly follow your train of thought.
[...]
CALLER: As far as the homosexuals go, people don't really hate 'em. See, I think [previous caller] and them misunderstand. They just don't want the agenda to where that activity's mainstreamed any more than they do bestiality.
MICHELLI: Did I not -- didn't I not try to articulate that? It is really an issue of social policy, not an issue of Christianity.
CALLER: Well, you gotta get -- you gotta explain things in simple terms. You gotta --
MICHELLI: Don't you love when you're asked to defend, like, “Explain why you must continue to have heterosexuality as the form of marriage in this country”?
CALLER: Well --
MICHELLI: Like, why do I have to defend that? Don't you have to make a case for the opposite?
CALLER: Well, the thing is, why do we want to mainstream per -- mainstream perver -- perversion, no matter what kind of perversion it is? Pedophilia, necrophilia, you know, homo --
MICHELLI: Yeah, it would be kind of like, “Defend why necrophilia should not be accepted.”
CALLER: [Laughing] Yeah.
MICHELLI: I mean, like, why don't you -- why don't you try to argue why it should be?
CALLER: Yeah, they're, they're -- they're dead. What do they care?
MICHELLI: Exactly. [unintelligible] They don't have a vote.
