Both Pittsburgh daily newspapers editorialized in favor of the six-game suspension handed down against Super Bowl champion quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger was suspended after accusations of improper behavior with a woman in a Georgia bathroom. Although it did not result in criminal charges, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell handed down the suspension Wednesday.

“Roethlisberger's pattern of behavior -- alleged to include trolling college bars and liquoring-up underage girls -- left NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell with no choice but to invoke swift and severe punishment,” The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review opined.

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette also backed the move, editorializing: “The penalty came swiftly. It hurt his pocketbook. It put him, humiliatingly, in the position of a little boy who must show that he will be good if he wants to go to the playground again. It put Ben Roethlisberger on notice that no more nonsense will be tolerated.”
