Well, I assume she will.
After all, Althouse today chastised the press for not getting enough details about acts of violence and intimidation directed at Democrats in the wake of the health care vote:
[W]e should all be vigilant about the way the Democrats and their friends in the press are leveraging these stories for political purposes, exaggerating and failing to check facts.
Apparently, the news cycle is all part of Democratic “self-victimization” in hopes of trying to “delegitimize the political movement against them.”
But oops, that line of attack came before Republican Congressman Eric Cantor, playing defense on the issue of violence and intimidation, announced today that a gun shot was fired into his Richmond office and has received threatening emails. The catch: Cantor won't release any details about the incidents.
That's certainly his right. But after Althouse demanded that all the details be made known about attacks on Democrats -- a demand that seemed to driven by the fact that she smells a rat -- I can only assume Althouse, in the name of consistency, will demand that Cantor release the details of the gun shot incident so reporters can have all the facts.
And if Cantor does not, Althouse has no choice to criticize the press for simply repeating the Cantor allegation. For, “complacently passing this story on to be used to propagate the violence meme,” as Althouse wrote.
So yes, any minute now I expect Althouse to post her concerns about the Cantor story and the media coverage.
I'll wait....
UPDATED: Turns our there are lots of interesting details about Cantor's claim that his “campaign office” was shot at. See Gawker for some of them. Also TPM.
