The sad part is this recent college grad will likely have a bright, right-wing future writing dubious blog posts for Newsbusters.

In a piece published in the Daily Caller, Brian Schneider, recent graduate from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, bemoans what he claims is the school's liberal bias. (Stop me if you've heard this one before.) He's upset because the J-school “fostered a cultural of liberalism.”

It's telling though, that in his entire piece Schneider never points to a single in-class incident by any of his professors that backs up his claim, or that suggests Medill prof's are somehow unprofessional or liberally biased. To 'prove' that, Schneider has to dig into out-of-classroom donations, given over a 30-year span, and points out that a very small percentage of full-time Medill prof's (15%) have contributed to Democratic campaigns, but only one prof has given exclusively to Republicans.

Armed with that knowledge, Schneider can't understand how those left-leaning professors can turn around and criticize Fox News:

Medill preaches, above all else, that if our integrity as journalists is compromised, we lose our credibility. But to have teachers openly criticize a conservative news network with such animosity and have some faculty members financially contribute to Obama smacks of arrogance.

Like I said, with logic like that Schneider's a natural for the crew at Newsbusters.

Since Brent Bozell's team won't point out the glaring hole in Schneider's argument I will. The professors attacked in Schneider's piece for being allegedly biased don't practice journalism. They don't go on national TV every day and make stuff up and purposefully peddle obvious misinformation the way Fox News employees do.

Meaning, Fox News staffers aren't being criticized today because when they go home at night they might privately support Republican candidates and gee, that calls into question their integrity. They're being widely criticized (including at Medill, apparently), for making shit up all the time and broadcasting those lies in the place of actual journalism. They're being criticized for openly broadcasting Republican propaganda and using their 'news' outlet as a means to get GOP candidates elected.

And honestly, if Schneider can't figure that out, then his $44,000 J-school tuition may have gone to waste.

Oh yeah, irony alert: Schneider seems quite concerned about political donations and what they say about journalism integrity. But he never mentions that Fox News' parent company recently donated $1 million to the GOP.
