Fox has embraced Republicans' deregulatory agenda so much that Lou Dobbs is now taking ownership of their anti-regulation talking points.
Note the “Dobbs Data Point” from the host's “Regulation Nation” segment:
That “data point”, incidentally, was part of the GOP House Oversight Committee's report on regulations that was released the same day, citing data from the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
During the segment, Dobbs said that “we have estimated here at Fox that the cost of regulation by the federal government amounts to about $10,000 per employee for small businesses on average. We're talking a small fortune.” He continued, “And it goes toward a large fortune when we examine the aggregate - over one and a half trillion dollars in cost in this economy.”
Both of these amounts are remarkably similar to the estimates in a widely discredited study on regulatory cost compliance that Fox has promoted all week long.
