Manosphere influencers promote sexual assault and downplay rape

Misogynist influencers like Andrew Tate, Sneako, and others are offering young men — and preteens — lifestyle and dating advice that encourages them to abuse women

Content warning: This article contains images and descriptions of sexual violence.

Personalities from the so-called “manosphere” — including Andrew Tate, Sneako, Jon Zherka, and Myron Gaines — are promoting sexual assault, victim blaming, and downplaying the severity of rape.

The manosphere is an online community of right-wing websites, bloggers, and influencers who repackage conservative, antifeminist, and regressive gender politics for the internet age, which they use to recruit and target young men. These misogynistic content creators often promote extremism, antisemitism, and violence against women

Some of these personalities draw viewers to their channels by discussing topics like weightlifting, video games, or boxing — topics that appeal to young men — before they dive into extremist and misogynistic narratives and talking points.

Some teachers and parents told Business Insider that the toxic misogynistic rhetoric found in the manosphere now permeates middle schools and high schools. One teacher reported overhearing students as young as 11 parroting phrases from TikTok videos featuring extreme misogynist Andrew Tate.

Here are examples of misogynistic manosphere influencers hosting rapists, promoting sexual assault, victim blaming, and downplaying the severity of rape:

  • Andrew Tate

  • Professional kickboxer, media personality, and alleged human trafficker Andrew Tate is one of the most well-known influencers in the manosphere. He has made several violent and abusive proclamations about women and has promoted sexual assault in videos he has uploaded online and during podcast interviews.

In an instructional video made for students who subscribe to his classes, Tate demonstrated, with a machete in hand, how he would disarm a woman who hypothetically accused him of cheating: “It’s bang out the machete, boom in her face, then grip her up by the neck," Tate said, before miming a choking motion and yelling, “Shut up, bitch!”

  • Tate has previously argued that rape victims should “bear responsibility” for their attacks and once said, “I’m not a rapist, but I like the idea of just being able to do what I want. I like being free.”

Additionally, a Vice investigation revealed that Tate sent voice messages to a woman that he allegedly raped in which he said, “Am I a bad person? Because the more you didn’t like it, the more I enjoyed it. I fucking loved how much you hated it. It turned me on. Why am I like that? Why?”

  • In a different message to the same woman, Tate wrote, “I love raping you,” and, “When ur under my control, I do whatever I please.”

At least three women have reported Tate for alleged rape, sexual assault, or physical abuse.

  • Sneako

  • Right-wing streamer Sneako, whose real name is Nico Kenn De Balinthazy, is a manosphere influencer and associate of pro-Hitler rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West). The Latch described him as “a cheap imitation” of Tate.

Sneako is an associate of white supremacist and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes and spoke at one of Fuentes’ antisemitic rallies. Additionally, Sneako had praised and defended Adolf Hitler.

During a 2022 stream, Sneako simulated sexual assaulting female YouTuber Chad Chad.

  • While reacting to a clip from right-wing podcaster Steven Crowder talking to a woman who says she was raped, Sneako laughed and said, “That’s the stupidest shit I ever heard,” adding, “That’s why I don’t think she actually got raped. … She was just drunk.”

  • Sneako and his toxic rhetoric are apparently popular with preteen boys.

In December, a video emerged of extremely young looking fans approaching Sneako. In another video, a trio of young fans approached Sneako and repeated his own toxic rhetoric back to him, saying, “Fuck the women,” and, “All gays can die.”

Glancing at the camera, Sneako smiled and asked, “What have I done?”

  • Jon Zherka

  • Manosphere influencer Jon Zherka, a self-proclaimed hater of women who has been accused of flirting with minors online, is promoting extreme misogyny, including denying the existence of rape.

In a video posted to X (formerly Twitter), Zherka responded to a guest saying they were a cop by saying, “You’re a cop? That’s crazy because I’m a rapist.”

  • Fresh & Fit podcast

  • The Fresh & Fit podcast, which describes itself as “the #1 men’s podcast in the world,” is a show filled with extreme misogyny.

The show is hosted by Why Women Deserve Less author Myron Gaines (real name Amrou Fudl) and dating and lifestyle coach Walter Weekes. Their show has more than 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube.

Over the past year, Gaines and Weekes have embraced antisemitism and Holocaust denial

While interviewing a panel of women on their show, the podcast hosts denied that rape culture exists.

In response to a female guest who left the show because she objected to the way Gaines discussed rape, he argued, “Rape culture is a myth — it’s not as common as people say it is,” before adding, “If you wanna go cry, go cry outside.”

Later in the episode, Gaines also claimed that women lie about being sexually assaulted for “sympathy” and “attention,” arguing, “False accusations are a real thing and women lie about that all the time to get sympathy and garner some type of attention to themselves because they regret sex.”

  • In another post, the account wrote, “You can’t say women are equal then come back and absolve them of responsibility from THEIR OWN DECISION as a victim. I’m simply giving her a choice. Leave or sex. You call it “rape” but in reality you just don’t like a man removing a woman from his home to call another.”

  • Gaines and Weekes also hosted comedian Charleston White, who has admitted to verbally and physically abusing women.

  • Hannah Pearl Davis

  • Antifeminist podcaster Hannah Pearl Davis has downplayed and questioned rape and sexual assault in multiple instances.

In a TikTok video, Davis claimed that rich and famous men don’t rape people.

“Why would a man that is rich and famous need to rape anybody?” Davis said. “Why would a guy need to assault or rape anybody in order to get sex that’s having it thrown at him 24/7?”

“Any guy that decides to tell the truth and go against the mainstream narrative they throw all these allegations at,” she continued. “We have to be a bit skeptical that rich, famous men are raping women like that.”

  • On X, Davis argued that those protecting victims of abuse have “expanded the definition of rape, abuse, and domestic violence to make it so broad that anything can be classified abuse.”

In another post, she asked, “What percent of rape accusations do you think are true?”
