On August 8, Media Matters for America noted that the conservative Media Research Center had responded to the death of ABC anchor Peter Jennings with a post promoting the organization's political agenda. MRC had emailed the post to its supporters that morning. While the original post remains, something else also appeared the evening of August 8 on the front page of the MRC website: a short note expressing condolences on Jennings's death. It reads in part: “Mr. Jennings' journalistic accomplishments and longevity at the height of his profession will always command honor and respect.”
