RECHENBERG: Is that in line with what you heard as well, that she denied this request for more security? 

REP. JODY HICE (R-GA): Well, we've heard that. But you know the end of the day. We need answers. I mean, we obviously need to get some answers. I want to know what Nancy Pelosi knew beforehand. Days before the events of January 6, I believe she was briefed on potential threats. I want to know that. I want to know what happened with the National Guard. I want to know why they were not more law enforcement here. I want to know, frankly, why the National Guard is still present in Washington, D.C., making it look like an occupied territory. 

There are a host of questions and my fear, however, knowing the leadership of Nancy Pelosi is that this will not be a fair commission. It will be focused on one purpose and that is to harm President Trump. We don't need that. We need honest answers. We need transparency and if we're able to proceed in that pathway, then we will get what we need, the American people will get what they need, and that is honest answers to what was a horrible day in America's history.
