During an appearance today on Steve Bannon’s program, Mike Lindell heaped praise on the outlet TruNews, calling it “one of the most amazing places” and asking people to “help them out.” TruNews is an antisemitic outlet that warns people about purported “seditious Jews” and calls Jewish people “deceivers” who “plot,” “lie,” and “do whatever they have to do to accomplish their political agenda.”
Mike Lindell is the founder of MyPillow and a frequent advertiser in right-wing media. He has become a leading conspiracy theorist about the 2020 election. Lindell last week hosted a symposium that aired nonstop lies about the election.
Recently, Lindell bizarrely claimed that according to his “counterintelligence,” Media Matters had established the “fake news site” TruNews. (Media Matters did not establish TruNews and does not have any connection to it aside from criticizing it.)
The false claim led TruNews host, conspiracy theorist, and virulent antisemite Rick Wiles to say: “Somebody is feeding Mr. Lindell a lot of bad information, and I think he should wise up and take a look at who he has surrounded himself with and whether somebody has gotten inside his group and they are now turning him into a clown. They’re destroying his credibility.”
TruNews and Lindell have made up. The outlet tweeted today: “@realRickWiles & Mike Lindell have talked to each other. They prayed together and are brothers in Christ!”
During the August 18 edition of Steve Bannon’s program War Room: Pandemic, Lindell said that he was somehow “set up” (it wasn’t clear how or by whom) and praised TruNews, stating: “I want to tell everyone right now this is one of the most amazing places you can go. Go to TruNews.com and you guys and get, you know, help them out. I mean, I feel terrible.”
