JOE SCARBOROUGH (HOST): We were just having the debate about gun-free zones.
STEVE RATTNER: You think there shouldn't be gun-free zones at schools?
SCARBOROUGH: I think gun-free zones are the stupidest idea.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI (HOST): Oh god.
SCARBOROUGH: And I hear I'm the guy that the NRA in Washington supposedly hates. Why don't you, on college campuses where you put gun-free zones -
BRZEZINSKI: No, let's arm everyone.
SCARBOROUGH: Where you have 30, 40,000 people marching, why don't you just put up a sign that say “free to shoot?” Come on.
BRZEZINSKI: OK, that's -- I think that's a little bit --
SCARBOROUGH: No, I mean, seriously. So a guy that's going to come and do harm at a college is going to say oh, it's a gun-free zone. I need to take my Bushmaster back. Hey, the pipe bombs, we can't bring them on -- No, it's stupid.
RATTNER: So you think instead all of these kids and teachers should all have guns in their pockets just in case somebody shows up with a Bushmaster?
SCARBOROUGH: I'm not comfortable with it, but at the same time I think advertising gun-free zones is a genuinely stupid thing that invites bad people to do really, really bad things.
