CHRIS HAYES (HOST): I love this story because there was such a brouhaha about this scandal that these contractors who were picking the trending list were censoring conservatives. They had a big meeting with Mark Zuckerberg, and it was just like, stop doing that. Its like, well this was exactly why they were doing that. Because there is all sorts of stuff that go nuts, that gets shared, that aren’t not true. You have to have someone there, to make sure that that’s not the case.

ERIC BOEHLERT: This is a huge embarrassment for Facebook. They bought into this phony outrage machine, right. There was one article claiming all their employees had all this liberal bias, we have to have a meeting. They were so scared because the Republican Party got involved, they wanted to have hearings. They knew it was going to become a campaign issue. There was no there there to the story, and so they end up, last Friday, firing all the humans. And this is a perfect outcome for Facebook. This is what happens when you give into the phony outrage.
HAYES: The other part of that –
BOEHLERT: Standing up for your employees and saying “you know what, we’re human, we’re smart, we know how to do this. Thank you for your concern, if you have an actual proof we have our thumb on the scale, let us know.”
