Newsmax mistakenly airs footage of Syria during broadcast on Ukrainian invasion

During the February 24 edition of Newsmax’s National Report, the network aired footage supposedly showing Ukrainian forces destroying Russian armor and troop formations. Anchor Shaun Kraisman stated the footage was unconfirmed, yet the on-screen label suggested the source of the video wasUkrainian armed forces.

SHAUN KRAISMAN (ANCHOR): This is video - they claimed, through unconfirmed, independently of Ukraine for forces destroying Russian armor and troop formations. Again, that's the video you're seeing there.

New York Times reporter Christiaan Triebert confirmed that the footage Newsmax aired is of Syria in 2020. The Centre for Information Resilience further confirmed that the footage was actually of Syria, not Ukraine, as it debunked similar reporting by some European outlets.
