ADDISON SMITH (HOST): We’ve got some great news: Twitter has been sold to the highest bidder. Twitter officials sold the social media platform to Tesla CEO Elon Musk for around $44 billion. This after Musk secured additional funding from investors to make his offer. The man behind the electric car giant Tesla said it was the “best and final offer” for the social media company, and apparently he was right.

SMITH: Well, Elon Musk has already made it clear that he’s not in it for the money. He’s in it to save and preserve freedom of speech. So whether or not it’s a risky bet, it’s certainly a good one, especially for the American people. Musk has insisted that Twitter needs to be taken private in order to preserve free speech in what is our modern-day public square. And he’s right. The online world is our public square. A handful of tech oligarchs control the flow of 90% of information in America.
Twitter’s able to silence the duly elected president of the United States in an instant. Not to mention they were able to interfere with the 2020 election by censoring the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. It’s high time someone held big tech’s feet to the fire. I’m glad to see Musk doing just that. Maybe we’ll see Trump and The Babylon Bee get their accounts back.

SMITH: This is a great day for freedom-loving Americans. Elon Musk has literally bought the libs. He owns them now.

SMITH: The poison pill didn't work. The outrage from mainstream media pundits and from the left, none of that worked. He’s now bought the whole thing. It’ll be interesting to see if he does become CEO, or if he just makes himself chairman.
Now, when he completed his takeover of Twitter, he tweeted out, “I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means.” And I think that’s a pretty great insight and a really good point, because you have all these people saying, “If Elon Musk buys Twitter, I’m going to leave,” and, you know, “Twitter’s just going to become this echo chamber.” I think they’re all going to be back on Twitter tomorrow, especially the blue checks. I don’t think they have the humility enough. I think they’re too prideful and arrogant to ditch their blue-check Twitter accounts.

SMITH: It’s a bad time to be woke, because we’re seeing what’s happening with Disney, we're seeing what’s happening with Netflix, now Twitter. It’s a bad time to be on the left. They’re all freaking out about it; they’re pulling their hair out. Meanwhile, it’s a big cultural win that we’re having here as conservatives.
