Savage: “Hillary Clinton, the most Godless woman in the Senate”

On his June 7 radio show, Savage Nation, host Michael Savage called Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) “the most Godless woman in the Senate” and mocked her for speaking at the June 4 National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast: saying "[S]o as all politicians, suddenly she [Clinton] becomes religious."

From the June 7 broadcast of Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: Then you have Hillary Clinton, the most Godless woman in the Senate, right out of the Marxist playbook, speaking at the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast, so as all politicians, suddenly she becomes religious. And here she is opening up her speech to the Hispanics who actually believe in God -- you gotta hear clip 9 again, you won't believe this. Play clip 9.

HILLARY CLINTON: [audio clip of Clinton speaking at National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast] “Good morning. This is a day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it, and I am so...”

SAVAGE: Oh God, how do they get away with this?

Contrary to Savage's assertion that Clinton is “Godless” and has “suddenly” become religious, she expressed her long-standing religious convictions in a 1996 address to the United Methodist General Conference. “Methodism has been important to me for as long as I can remember,” Clinton stated. “The Church was a critical part of my growing up, and in preparing for this event, I almost couldn't even list all the ways it influenced me, and helped me develop as a person, not only on my own faith journey, but with a sense of obligations to others.”
