Limbaugh followed in the footsteps of most of the rest of the media today, focusing on the controversy around Gen. Stanley McChrystal's comments to Rolling Stone magazine. While he indicated that the comments were “indefensible,” Limbaugh went on to say that McChrystal is a “warrior general” and unlike a “corporate general” he's interested in winning the battle and not in merely getting ahead in the Army. Limbaugh said that his comments should be listened to and that it was a natural reaction to having a “community organizer” running the military, and having “Ivy Leaguers” lecturing the military on how to conduct the war.
Limbaugh continued, saying that President Obama was part of a Democratic “cabal” in the Senate that tried to demoralize the military during the Iraq War, as well as an “amateur” who holds the military in “disdain.” Limbaugh also floated the conspiracy theory that the story about McChrystal was designed to push negative news about the Gulf oil spill off the front page.
Returning to his previous comments on the escrow account set up by BP, Limbaugh said that it was obviously a “shakedown” and that BP's property was “confiscated” and “looted” while freedom evaporates before our eyes.
