Rush Limbaugh declared that today's theme was Democrats' opposition to Arizona's controversial new immigration law, and how that opposition was motivated solely by their reliance on voter fraud to maintain power. Rush argued that the Arizona is a “lethal blow” to those illegal votes and “that's why they are having a conniption fit about this law in Arizona.” Republicans who have questioned the immigration law didn't escape Rush's scorn either; he said it was “suicide” for Republicans to oppose the law and added that he was disappointed with criticism of the measure by Florida pols Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush. Addressing liberals' criticism of the law, Limbaugh encouraged Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer to explain to illegal immigrants and homeless residents living in her state all the benefits of living in San Francisco and give them one-way tickets to that California city. Apparently Rush thought this idea was such a winner that he mentioned it three times throughout the show. In his defense of the immigration law, Limbaugh managed to get a birther-tinged crack in on President Obama, claiming that the president opposes the law because he's “afraid somebody is going to ask him for his” papers.
Rush continued to hit on the immigration issue throughout the show. He repeatedly stated that Obama is ignoring his responsibility to defend our borders and uphold the Constitution, and he suggested that opposing Arizona's law would lead to the "dissolution of a nation" -- the U.S., presumably. He even threw in a Nazi reference, asserting that in its “day-to-day actions,” the Obama administration is "far more Nazi-like" than the Arizona immigration law. Of the few topics other than immigration that Rush touched on, he focused in financial regulatory reform and yesterday's Senate hearing with Goldman Sachs officials. While playing a clip of Goldman CEO Lloyd Blankfein voicing his support for financial reform, Rush repeatedly made sucking noises and informed his listeners that Blankfein was “sucking up” to the lawmakers at the hearing. Rush also took a shot at Florida's Charlie Crist, saying that the U.S. Senate candidate has "linguini for a spine" for withdrawing support for off-shore drilling in the wake of the sinking of an oil platform off the Louisiana coast.
