JOEY JONES (CO-HOST): If you look at recent presidents, you have what they call the “doctrine." So, the Bush Doctrine was preemptive strike. And so, the idea there is, once you have the intelligence and you know someone is about to attack you, you attack them preemptively. The Trump Doctrine really was this idea of moving away from a forever war, but staying with the assets necessary to essentially install the Bush Doctrine. To strike -- really, the Trump Doctrine was “equal and more." Whatever you do to us, we're going to do to you equal and more. And he fulfilled that promise every time.
Listen, the absolute truth of it is, I believe President Trump is running for office until he tells me he isn't, so he has the convenience of doing domestic politics, and that was a campaign speech as much as anything. Yes, Putin did not do this under President Trump, but right now President Biden is the president. So, what I want to know from President Trump is, if you are running for president, how will you fix this? And since I won't get it from President Trump right away, I want to know it from the Republicans who are running for offices within the next 12 months or 18 months.
RACHEL CAMPOS-DUFFY (CO-HOST): I think that -- I think Donald Trump told us, he showed us what his doctrine is. And his doctrine was economic power is national security. Energy independence is national security.
JONES: Energy independence is obviously a part of that.
CAMPOS-DUFFY: One of the first things he did was disavow this idea that we could not be energy independent. And right now, I'm sorry, this is a Green New Deal war. This is John Kerry's war. This is AOC's war. We are in this position because we have allowed Russia to be empowered and enriched because of our energy policy. We are actually doing to our own country what Germany did to theirs, which is they shut down their coal --
JONES: Well, then we've learned we have to --
CAMPOS-DUFFY: Germany has no more coal, they shut down there last nuclear plant, and now look at them.
WILL CAIN (CO-HOST): Made themselves codependent upon Russia.
CAMPOS-DUFFY: They made themselves codependent. Why the hell are we doing that in our own country? This needs to end now, and Donald Trump knows exactly what to do. He said we need to be a powerhouse, and peace comes through strength.
