A January 10 column by American Spectator founder and editor-in-chief R. Emmett Tyrrell Jr. distributed by Creators Syndicate and posted on the conservative websites Townhall.com and HumanEvents.com was headlined: “Hillary Detumescent.” Merriam-Webster defines “detumescence” (the noun form of the word) as “subsidence or diminution of swelling or erection.”
In the column, Tyrrell claimed, “We are in the midst of a Clinton crack-up,” and described what he called Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-NY) “decline.”
The column was also published on The American Spectator website with the headline: “They Crack Me Up.”
Tyrrell is the author of a 2007 book on former President Bill Clinton titled The Clinton Crack-Up: The Boy President's Life After The White House (Nelson Current).
Tyrrell's columns are regularly published by The New York Sun, of which he is a contributing editor.
