Right-Wing Media Figures: Kaine's Spanish Has “Deeper Implications,” “Are We Watching Dora The Explorer?”
Fox’s Tucker Carlson: Kaine Speaking Spanish Has “Deeper Implications” And “Something We Should Pause And Think About.” On the July 27 edition of Fox News’ America’s Election HQ, Fox host Tucker Carlson claimed Kaine’s use of Spanish held “deeper implications for the country,” and something we should pause to think about”:
TUCKER CARLSON: I was so struck by his use of Spanish. The Hillary people have been touting his fluency in the language since the very beginning. I think it's one of the reasons he was chosen, and I do think there are deeper implications for the country. I mean, language is one of the key things, maybe the key thing that holds the country together. It is the one thing that everybody basically has always shared in America. And so to in effect endorse bilingualism, to give a speech partly in Spanish here, I think is symbolically important and something we should pause to think about. Dems are enthralled by an American politician who can speak Spanish. Unless his name is Jeb or Marco.
