Fox's Ed Henry: Focusing On Benghazi During Presidential Campaign “May Backfire On Republicans”

Ed Henry: Clinton's Benghazi Hearing “Backfired Somewhat Yesterday” For GOP

From the October 23 edition of Fox News' The Five:

GREG GUTFELD: Shouldn't the Republicans now -- since it looks like everything's over for now. Shouldn't Republicans revisit [Benghazi] and basically call her out on the fact that she lied to grieving parents? Shouldn't they do that? Shouldn't they do what Mitt [Romney] didn't do?

ED HENRY: You know what, I think it probably -- first of all, I'll say I don't give Republican presidential candidates advice, but broadly speaking as a reporter, the Benghazi situation is a clear, important part of Hillary Clinton's record. She can't erase it, it should be brought up. But if it becomes a dominant part of the 2016 campaign? It's hard to see how that's a winning strategy for Republicans. People are talking about the economy. They're going to talk about, well, if you want to repeal Obamacare, what do you want to do after that? There's a whole host of other issues. And I suspect if you're suggesting that it should be a dominant issue, it might backfire on Republicans. It backfired somewhat yesterday.
