CNN's Brianna Keilar: Trump's Hot Mic Comments Show Him “Condoning Forcible Advances On Women”

From the October 7 edition of CNN's The Situation Room:

DANA BASH: If these were words that he said in the past year plus forget it, it would be completely game over. What I thought -- where I thought you were going with that is that we've heard of things that he has said but not actually heard him say the words like we do on this audio tape. And it is quite different to actually hear it come out of his mouth, and vulgar words that we hear over and over again in that audio tape. And just to sort of dove tail on what David [Chalian] was saying about the question of whether he can expand beyond his base, remember this is about women. This is about whether or not he can be palatable to women and frankly beyond women, men who also find this kind of discussion vulgar and way over the line. Forget about presidential. Not something you would want your friend to say. Or your uncle. Or your father. Anybody who you are in close proximity with. It’s just not the way most people think and certainly don’t speak that way. Unless they are as he said, in a locker room and maybe they’re 13 or 14 years old and they’re just learning about things like this.

[…]

BRIANNA KEILAR: Part of the problem for Donald Trump with this, this does go farther than anything we've heard Donald Trump say in terms of what is considered socially acceptable behavior or speech. He has dismissed some of his past comments about women saying, “you know what, that was entertainment. No one respects women more than I do.” And so, he sort of tried to reassure people that in private moments he's very respectful. Well this is a private moment and you hear how he speaks. And then the other issue with it, especially something that I think could motivate young people. Especially young women maybe for Hillary Clinton because they're motivated against Donald Trump is that he's condoning forcible advances on women whether they are wanted or unwanted. So this isn't just a matter of using a slang term for a woman's private parts or using words that are derogatory toward women. It's about him saying, you know, I'm attracted to beautiful women and then he basically says “when you're a star they let you do it, you can do anything.”

BASH: That’s the key.

KIELAR: Grab them by the fill in the blank. By their private parts. I mean that's a big issue for Donald Trump. This goes beyond.
