NRATV host: Assault weapons bans are about “jailing your political foes”

Grant Stinchfield: “I don’t know if this has as much to do about guns as it has to do with solidifying Democratic leadership”

From the April 16 edition of NRATV’s Stinchfield:

Video file

GRANT STINCHFIELD (HOST): I'm going to play a little clip for you about [Democratic presidential candidate Eric Swalwell] being asked about his whole plan to ban AR-15-style rifles, and then what happens if people don't turn them in.

[BEGIN VIDEO CLIP]

JAKE TAPPER (CNN HOST): What's the punishment for people who don't hand in their guns? Do they go to jail?

ERIC SWALWELL: Well, Jake, they would. But I also offer an alternative which should be to keep them at a hunting club or shooting range.

[END VIDEO CLIP]

STINCHFIELD: So, Amy, you’re going to take people who are -- millions of people, by the way, who are abiding by the laws as written in the United States, abiding by their constitutional rights, simply exercising it, and with the stroke of a pen under a Swallwell presidency, he’s going to throw those people in jail. I mean, that is jailing your political foes and I don’t know if this has as much to do about guns as it has to do with solidifying Democratic leadership by just -- if you’re going to vote for a Republican, we’re just going to put you all in prison.
