Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy suggests courts hearing Dominion's lawsuits against Fox and Newsmax are corrupt

MERCEDES SCHLAPP (MODERATOR): Obviously, the left-wing media is salivating over this Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit against Fox and also against Newsmax. I mean, what's the deal here?

CHRIS RUDDY (NEWSMAX CEO): It's a sensitive subject, right, we're being sued for $1.6 billion, I don't know where they came up with that number. And Fox is being sued for that amount and if you look at the facts of the case, even all of these salacious emails and texts that came out of the Fox suit, you may have heard about it.

What it showed was that Fox was a news organization, a big news organization where on a controversial news subject there were disagreements among the staff about how they should cover it, the ways they should cover it.

Rupert Murdoch is the controlling shareholder. He apparently disagreed with some of the views but you know what? He didn't tell, like he's supposed to in journalism, he allowed his hosts to have an opinion even if it might have been different from his.

So actually, I know a lot of people like to criticize Fox these days but I think that what these texts show to me was there was a dynamic in there, Fox can show you, just like Newsmax – so what we're being sued for is that we reported what President Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and the campaign officials were alleging about that election. We didn't say that they were doing this. We didn't say that anybody committed a crime or broke any law. We were reporting what officials and their surrogates were saying.

And the position of Dominion and the liberal media is that Newsmax should never even have covered those people. Or if we did, we should have immediately said what they were saying was a lie and why, when they did the Russian collusion story where they made countless allegations against President Trump, nobody and they were all found to be false. Nobody said CNN and MSNBC. In fact, there's been no accountability for what they did.

I think our statement of facts in this case are very strong. I think Fox's statement of account.

If we were not in a Delaware court, small state, liberal, Democratic state, the Biden family's close with everybody there. If we were in federal court, this thing would be on the way to being thrown out. And I think people should just wake up to the the the implications of this case for the First Amendment across for every media, including liberals.
