Immigrants Are Supposedly More Dangerous Than ISIS And 10 Other Horrible Anti-Immigrant Media Moments From Ann Coulter

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter agreed that immigrants to the United States are a bigger threat to Americans than the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group during a recent interview with Fusion's Jorge Ramos -- hardly the first of Coulter's offensive comments on immigration. Media Matters looked back at Coulter's marked history of inflammatory anti-immigrant rhetoric.

Coulter Agrees That Immigrants Are A Bigger Threat To America Than ISIS

Coulter Compared Immigrants To Terrorists: "Very Easy To Avoid Being Killed By ISIS," But "If You Don't Want To Be Killed By A Mexican, There's Nothing I Can Tell You."  During a May 26 interview on Fusion's America With Jorge Ramos, Ann Coulter doubled-down her past comparison of immigrants to terrorists from the Islamic State. After host Jorge Ramos questioned her assertions, Coulter replied that “yes” Americans should fear immigrants more than the terror group because “If you don't want to be killed by ISIS, don't go to Syria. If you don't want to be killed by a Mexican, there's nothing I can tell you.” [Fusion, America With Jorge Ramos5/26/15]

Coulter Has A Long History Of Offensive Attacks On Immigrants

Coulter: “Illegal Aliens” Have Murdered “Far More Americans Than ISIS Ever Will. In a February 25 column for conservative conspiracy site World Net Daily (WND), Coulter complained of “the media's Soviet-style censorship about immigrant crime” and warned Americans to be more fearful of undocumented immigrants than the terror group ISIS. Coulter explained that “ISIS is not at our doorstep. Illegal immigrants are not only at our doorstep, but millions of them are already through the door, murdering far more Americans than ISIS ever will.” [World Net Daily, 2/25/15]

Coulter: Hispanics Will “Start Physically Attacking Blacks.” In an interview with The Daily Beast to promote her latest book, ¡Adios, America!: The Left's Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole, Coulter warned of “peasants who come from backward cultures” and who are “piggy-backing on the black experience.” Coulter specifically complained of Hispanic immigrants and the “browning of America,” predicting that “Hispanic groups will move into neighborhoods and say, 'We don't want any blacks here,' and start physically attacking blacks.” [The Daily Beast, 5/26/15]

Coulter: U.S. Should Have A Moratorium On All Legal Immigration. During a 2014 appearance on Fox News' Hannity, Coulter called for an “an immigration moratorium, both legal And illegal,” claiming that “the country can't afford it. We have our own poor people we need to take care of. And we're running out of money for that.” [RealClearPolitics.com, 7/1/14]

Coulter: "'Real' Hispanics Are On Welfare." In a May 2013 tweet, Coulter claimed “real” Hispanics, unlike Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), are on welfare:

Coulter: Immigration Reform Will “Turn The Country Into Mexico.” In a 2013 blog post, Coulter warned that immigration reform proposals would “turn the country into Mexico,” asking why the U.S. can't be “more or less the ethnic composition that it always was”:

Why can't the country be more or less the ethnic composition that it always was? The 50-1 Latin American-to-European ratio isn't a natural phenomenon that might result from, say, Europeans losing interest in coming here and poor Latin Americans providing some unique skill desperately needed in our modern, technology-based economy.

To the contrary, it's result of an insane government policy. Teddy Kennedy's 1965 Immigration Act was designed to artificially inflate the number of immigrants from the Third World, while making it virtually impossible for anyone from the nations that historically provided our immigrants to come here.

Pre-1965 immigrants were what made this country what it was for a reason: They were the pre-welfare state immigrants. From around 1630 to 1966, immigrants sank or swam. About a third of them couldn't make it in America and went home -- and those are the ones who weren't rejected right off the boat for being sick, crippled or idiots. [AnnCoulter.com,5/22/13]

Coulter: "Stigmatizing" Immigration “Is Good.” During a panel at the 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Coulter called for increased stigmatization around immigration. Bizarrely accusing immigrants of having trashed national parks, Coulter went on to say that “No, sometimes stigma is good. They've stigmatized smoking out of existence, how about stigmatizing unwed motherhood, littering, running across the border illegally. How about stigmatizing it? Can we just do that?” [2014 Conservative Political Action Conference, 3/8/14

Coulter: Catholics Aiding Migrant Children Are Just “Moral Show-Offs.” Following a surge of unaccompanied minors at the U.S.- Mexico border in July 2014, Coulter took to Twitter to lash out at Catholics, including Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, for responding to the child refugee crisis with compassion. Coulter claimed that the children were actually “a couple dozen Central American gang members” and blasted Catholics who advocated on their behalf as “moral show-offs.” [Mediaite, 7/23/14]

Coulter Threatened Republicans Who Support Immigration Reform With “Death Squads.” Speaking at the 2014 CPAC, Coulter threatened members of the Republican party who supported immigration reform, asserting that  “if you pass amnesty, that's it. It's over. Then we organize the death squads for the people who wrecked America.” [CSPAN, 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference, 3/8/14]

Coulter: Hispanics Don't Vote For Republicans Because Of “Ethnic Loyalty, And That's A Problem In This Country.” Appearing on Premiere Radio Network's The Sean Hannity Show in November of 2012 to discuss Mitt Romney's recent loss, Ann Coulter proclaimed that part of the issue was the “ethnic loyalty” of Hispanic voters, which she deemed “a real problem in this country.” [Premiere Radio Networks, The Sean Hannity Show11/7/12]

Coulter: Boston Bombing Suspect's Wife “Ought To Be In Prison For Wearing A Hijab.” Appearing on Fox News' Hannity in April 2013, Coulter asserted that the wife of the Boston bombing suspect “out to be in prison for wearing a hijab,” whether or not she knew about the crime, the traditional Muslim headdress was proof that she was an immigrant who would not assimilate into American culture.
