Andrew Breitbart once wanted people to think that his targeting of Anthony Weiner was something of a grim journalistic duty.
In a June 6 appearance on Fox News, Breitbart said that “I don't feel a sense of vengeance against this man that I would put him and his family through this type of humiliation” of releasing an explicit photo of the former congressman's private parts. On the June 6 edition of Fox News' Hannity, Breitbart said: “You got to trust me on this, you know, Congressman Weiner, I'm not enjoying the salacious aspect of this. And I was at that press conference. And he's not going to believe me, but I felt like crap for this man. I felt like crap for this, man. I absolutely do.”
Since then, however, Breitbart seems to have had a change of heart about the whole not-enjoying-it thing.
Breitbart began his keynote address at this past weekend's Right Online conference by waving around his smartphone and asking, “Who wants to see the photo?” Later in his speech, Breitbart declared that the Weiner saga was “three ludicrous, unbelievably joyful weeks,” adding, “I loved every second of it, Congressman Weiner.”
For those scoring at home, it took less than two weeks for Breitbart to go from not enjoying it to very much enjoying it.
Of course, even as Breitbart was in his grim-duty phase, it apparently wasn't so grim that he absolutely refused to show the explicit alleged pic of Weiner to anyone. Shock jocks Opie and Anthony got a view (and the photo leaked out anyway through the two radio jocks); Breitbart added that he showed the explicit photo to “several news producers, including several at major news networks, to prove that the additional material I described really did exist.”
