I know, I know. I might be waiting a long time.
But still, it's worth documenting how often Breitbart's Media Matters-obsessed bloggers launch loopy attacks on us on the basis of stuff that's completely fabricated. The latest concoction came courtesy of “Liberty Chick,” who noted with deep suspicion that Media Matters often linked to the work of former WashPost blogger David Weigel. Breitbart's bright blogger sensed “collaboration.”
Specifically, she made this claim:
There is without a doubt a very heavy reliance upon Weigel on the part of Media Matters as the sort of “conservative voice of reason” – the source that allows George Soros' paid hacks and non-entities to imply, “Look, see? Even your own guy doesn't support you; even your own guy has this to say about it…”
That, as a I documented yesterday, is a fabrication.
Media Matters, when linking to Weigel's excellent work in the past, has not routinely referred to him a “conservative voice of reason,” or even as a “conservative.” We've simply referred to him as a journalist. Period.
But anxious to build her multi-layered Media Matters conspiracy theory, Breitbart's blogger simply fabricated her claim about Media Matters and Weigel. If Liberty Chick can point to the dozens of previously super-secret instances in which we did describe Weigel as some sort of “conservative voice of reason,” she ought to publish the links.
Barring that, or she ought to post a very public correction.
We'll wait....
