Trump proposed sending US citizens to a foreign prison. Even his sycophantic supporter Charlie Kirk opposes the idea.

Trump said “the homegrowns are next” to be sent to El Salvador's megaprison. Asked about it, Charlie Kirk said, “Do you think he actually believes that?”

On Bill Maher’s Club Random Podcast, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk said he would oppose the Trump administration sending American citizens to foreign prisons. Kirk also added that “Do you think he actually believes that? Like, he would do that?” (Trump has said that “the homegrowns are next” to be sent to the megaprison in El Salvador.)

BILL MAHER (HOST): And few conservatives stand up to Trump. 

CHARLIE KIRK (GUEST): Fair enough. I mean, you can stand up or disagree, but I guess you could say the question -- 

MAHER: Well --

KIRK: Is Trump -- woke is an ideology. Is Trump an ideology? I mean, he's a person. MAGA is an ideology, but I mean, we can -- I disagree with Trump on a lot of stuff. I mean, I don't think we should go to war with Iran. I think that'd be a big mistake. 

MAHER: Also, when you get to we're gonna send homegrown American citizens to foreign prisons? 

KIRK: Oh, so you, well, the thing he said, you mean? 

MAHER: Homegrown.

KIRK: To Bukele. 

MAHER: Americans. 

KIRK: No. And if he were to do that, I wouldn't support it.

MAHER: Great. 

KIRK: But I don't — I think that is a one-liner that he gave to Bukele. I think that is -- you met the man. 

MAHER: Yes. I --

KIRK: Do you think he actually believes that? Like, he would do that? 

MAHER: It's worse if he does or would. It's still horrible that an American president would say that. Look me in the eye and tell me if Obama had said that — what your reaction would be. 

KIRK: Wouldn't like it. 

MAHER: Wouldn't like it. I think it would be a little more vitriolic than that. 

KIRK: We would be — we'd be —

MAHER: Apoplectic. 

KIRK: Upset.

MAHER: OK. I'm just I'm finding out how honest you are, Charlie. And so far, you're — I think you're doing good.

The answer comes after President Donald Trump said that his administration is exploring a proposal to send U.S. citizens to a Salvadoran prison. 

During a meeting with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele last week, Trump said, “The homegrowns are next, the homegrowns.” 

The Trump administration has already sent hundreds of migrants to El Salvador’s notorious megaprison. 

Kirk has been consistent in his sycophantic adoration of Trump and support for the president’s nominations and positions. And yet, during this interview Kirk claimed he disagrees with Trump “on a lot of stuff.”
