The killing of Osama bin Laden seems to have confused Tucker Carlson's website, the Daily Caller. In an article titled “Barack Obama, 'Killing Machine?'” the Caller observes: “President Barack Obama has surprised some who expected that the liberal president would be weak on fighting terrorism.”
You see, liberals are spineless wimps. Everyone knows that. So when they do strange things like kill lots of terrorists or win humanity's largest wars, it's really shocking news. And as the Daily Caller sees it, the “Killing Machine” moniker is well-deserved:
To date not only has the President authorized the hit on Osama Bin Laden, but also provided for the killing of numerous other threats, including but not limited to: 3 Somali pirates; Baitullah Mehsud; Najmiddin Jalolov; Saleh al-Somali; Abdallah Sa'id, Hakimullah Mehsud; Kaddafi's youngest son and three grandchildren; thousands via his large increase in drone attacks; and has ordered the assassination of the American terrorist Imam Anwar al-Awlaki.
When you see that list above and you realize that the Somali pirate incident happened a mere three months into Obama's presidency, you have to marvel that the person writing this never stopped to reconsider the flawed premise. The fact that Obama's “provided for the killing of numerous other threats” since the very beginning of his presidency doesn't mean he's challenging the perception that liberals are weak on terrorism. It means the perception itself is a load of garbage, and the people who are only now “surprised” that Obama's been tough on terrorists are slaves to canned talking points.
But I guess if the Daily Caller's willing to (backhandedly) compliment Obama for not fitting their hackneyed caricature of the wimpy liberal peacenik, we should congratulate them for challenging the expectation that a right-wing website would be reflexively anti-Obama to the point of unintentional parody.
Good job.
