JOSHUA DUBOIS (FORMER OBAMA ADVISER): My reaction was the Dr. King that worked and advocated and changed this country was not the Dr. King reflected in the president's remarks. Dr. King was not this warmed over, go-along-to-get-along type of figure. He would have marched on people like Donald Trump. He would have been advocating against this White House. And you don't have to believe me, we can listen to the words of his own daughter, someone who spent perhaps as much time with him as anyone. Bernice King said yesterday that “Only in a country still haunted by white supremacy and hounded by racism would a sitting president feel comfortable degrading Africa and Haiti while praising Norway.” I went down to Atlanta a couple weeks ago and spent time with Joseph Lowery, who co-founded the SCLC [Southern Christian Leadership Conference] with Dr. King, and he said that Trump is perhaps one of the greatest threats to civil rights that he has ever seen. And so we heard one thing in the nice presentation today, but the Dr. King that I have researched and read about and spent time with people who loved him and knew him would have a lot to say about Donald Trump.
