DOUGLAS WILDER: Now, if Ryan is going to be representing another party, he needs to say so. It has nothing to do with whether he's gonna be the choice for some dark-horse candidacy, and he is hurting himself unnecessarily in this regard, and I think that he will change.



NEIL CAVUTO (HOST): Leaving that aside, it's almost too stupid at face value to think that you would invite a civil war within your party, right? Which makes me think -- and indulge me, because I only talked this over with one person, someone I have a great deal of respect -- and my crackpot theory goes something like this, What is if this is all like professional wrestling? It's a staged thing, that to give the impression Republicans can't unite, when, boom, in Cleveland, the harps come out, they all unite. What do you think?



WILDER: It's not an issue as to whether you and I agree with what the people have decided, but the people of that party have said so --



CAVUTO: No no. I'm saying it's all fake.I'm saying it's all fake, they don't really mean it, they want to -- this is all about, you know, we can all come together, it will be done in dramatic fashion. Donald Trump himself has said he wants a different type of convention, more glitz, more suspense, maybe not the suspense part. But something tells me that they will come together in a surprising -- I don't know -- professional wrestling ending.
