Political commentator Helen Aguirre Ferré, the Republican National Committee’s new director of Hispanic communications, has deleted numerous tweets trashing presumptive nominee Donald Trump, including her proclamation that “women & country deserve better” than him.
The RNC announced on June 1 that Ferré would join the RNC and will help “stop Hillary Clinton and elect a Republican president." RNC hired Aguirre Ferré after its previous director quit because she reportedly was “uncomfortable working for Mr. Trump.”
Aguirre Ferré is a former aide to Jeb Bush's presidential campaign and has worked as a journalist, radio host, and political analyst for media outlets including Univision.
Aguirre Ferré frequently tweeted criticisms of Trump, including as recently as last month. She suggested that Trump doesn’t represent the “values of the Republican Party,” tweeted that Hispanic Republicans are “caught in 2016 meat grinder” because of Trump, and wondered if Trump surrogates Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. Jeff Sessions “now regret supporting Trump or do the means justify the end?” She also tweeted a link to PolitiFact awarding Trump the 2015 Lie of the Year and wrote after Trump attacked Carly Fiorina’s appearance that the country and women “deserve better” than Trump. She has since deleted those tweets.
She has not yet deleted a tweet criticizing Trump for attacking Jeb Bush's wife, calling Trump’s remarks “beyond the pale”; and a tweet of an article reporting that two men allegedly justified an anti-Hispanic attack by citing Trump (she commented, “Terrible!”).
The Washington Post reported that Aguirre Ferré “frequently expressed doubts about Trump in public during appearances on Spanish-language television programs and on Twitter,” and noted she “deleted at least one tweet critical of Trump,” which “linked to a poll suggesting Miami-area Cuban Americans would leave the GOP if the businessman won the nomination.”
Here are 12 deleted tweets (via Google cache) about Trump from the person that the RNC has hired to promote the GOP’s presumptive nominee to Hispanic voters:
